ST Georges Parade/Family Camp
Blacklands Farm - Peewits 4 + 5
Friday 24th April 2009
When we arrived there were some families already there. We all started to put up our tents as we had not much time left as we still had to do alot of things. When everybody was set up, unpacked and we got the keys for the toilets it was about 9pm and we still had to do shopping. So we rushed round Sainsbury's and we did a good job just probably left a few things behind. After the shopping we went to the fish and chip shop to buy dinner as it was a bit to later to make dinner at about 10pm ish. When we got back to the camp site we unpacked our shopping and found our way to our tents and settled down for the night.

In the late morning we all got up and started to make a fire with was very quick and successful and then we started to get breakfast on the go which was sausage, spaghetti, eggs, bacon and pitta bread which was very nice and mushy. It was around 12pm now and all the rest of the families were arriving and it was a good turn out for cubs and beavers and scouts parents with a total of 46 ish people. While all the families were putting the tent up and there equipment out when had a giant football tournament. Meanwhile 12 people went down to do archery. Down at archery all the children and some adults got four goes which was really good and it was great for. Everybody did really well and looked like they were enjoying themselves with there family. Afterwards we stayed at the site for awhile but then went to the tunnels which were really cool because they were pitch black and you have know torches and we had to try and get through one end to the other and which was so confusing as it is not a straight line is goes all different directions and there and 14 different exits but some people did make it and the adults did have a go which was funny. We played loads of different games in them. When our session on them was over we went on the low ropes which was so challenging and everyone probably fell over at least once. It was so funny as the involved alot of balancing and trusting your body and after a second go more people were completing it. By the time everybody had finished it was nearly dark and we headed back to the camp site. For dinner we had beef burgers or sausage in a bun with onions and baked beans with coleslaw or potato salad. It was yummy! After dinner when everybody had cleared up we stayed at the campsite again doing out own thing while it was a bit darker because we were going to go down to the campfire circle and sing songs. When we arrived there we started to put massive pieces of wood and made a enormous fire which was amazing. Some of the songs we sung were b...i...n...g...o, baby shark (my favourite), we went to the animal fair, and on top of all smokey. We left the campfire around about 9pm and then we all got a drink and so of the parents and kids went to bed but the people left up played bingo! The game was so good (even though i won nothing) and everybody was enjoying themselves an we had four games but there was something really annoying as in the first two game ball number 19 was missing and nearly everybody had that number but the good thing was that we got prizes for the first line and the first full house in each game but the prizes were water pistols, wooden spoons, potato peeler, and the biggest prize was celebrations which Meghan really wanted but did not get. Then everybody went to there tent as that finished at midnight!

It was an early morning with some more people just arriving for that day. We were all up, washed, breakfast which was eggs, bacon, beans, sausage and some us has done so packing. We did flag break that morning and there looked so many of us. Then beavers, cubs, scouts and leaders go badges and they were some beavers got there bronze chief award and nights away, the cubs got year badges and nights away and the scouts got year badges and nights away badges and there were two leaders presented and one was getting the cub leaders badge and the other person was assistant scout leader. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE! Afterwards everybody got dressed out of their best shirt and we did more activities which was some people were doing more archery, grass sledging and the adults did climbing which was great fun. Then we had lunch again which was a beef burger or sausage and a bun again with beans. Then once everybody had cleared up we all went swimming and the pool was so cold it felt like you would get hyperthermia but i was so fun because there there basketball nets and most of us played basketball and piggy in the middle. Afterwards we finished in the pool at a good time and the tuck shop was open so then everybody was stuffing themselves and buying severers. After that great day so far it became the bad part of packing up and having to leave behind such a great adventure as family camps only happen every three years. Overall I think everybody had a BRILLIANT time but if they did not at least I did!
THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY TURNING UP AND MAKING SUCH A BRILLIANT AND ADVENTUROUS CAMP!
