1. We all arrived at Ashdown
Forest at 8:25am and walked to where the competition would be held. 2. We then chose our location for the cookout and set about collecting the firewood. The wood was then sorted from big to small. 3. Hannah and Meg started to prepare the food while Soph and Antonia continued to collect firewood. 4. We handed in our menus we made and this is what they looked like: Hannah and Meg then made paper plates by folding pages from magazines which really impressed the judges. 5. The judges came round and asked both teams what time their meals would be ready. Hannah and Soph agreed that it would be ready at 12:15pm and Meg and Antonia said their meal would be ready at 12:20pm. 6. We started to cook our meals on the fire 7. The kebabs only took about 10 mins to cook as our embers were really hot. We also put the bananas on so the chocolate melted. 8. Everything was ready on time and served in the paper plates ready for the judges. 9. The judges came and inspected our hygiene, presentation , fire and our food of course. We think both teams did great. 10. Carl did really well at the trainee session and learnt how to make a fire, cook a twist, a kebab, a chocolate banana and also how to cook an egg on a stick. 11. Although we did not win the competition everyone had enjoyed themselves. We then carried all our gear back to the top of the field and started to prepare for the survival camp. |
