One cold grey day five brave scouts were abandoned in Bedgebury forest and left to find there way back through the undergrowth dodging ferocious bears and leaders. After we had been trekking for a while we found checkpoint one and had to name some leaves which were all called holly! The second checkpoint we came across must have already been visited by the bears as there was a casualty lying under a tree with no limbs we tried to resuscitate but it was to late so we moved on to checkpoint 3 for a leisurely game of fishing. We carried on trekking keeping a carful watch for bears when suddenly we spotted a bright pink one in scout uniform stuck up a tree. The adults at this checkpoint told us we had to get this bear down without hurting it we thought they must be mad and said we wanted to keep out limbs not like the poor soul at checkpoint 2. We decided to send Callum up the tree but once he grabbed the bear he lost his nerve and dropped poor ted on his head so we ran for it and moved on to checkpoint 5. At checkpoint 5 we were blind folded and had to complete 4 or 5 knots before moving on to checkpoint 6. At this checkpoint we had an observation test about a film and then had to answer some questions. We eventually found out way back to the visitor centre at 3:30pm and came in 3rd. Unfortunately our points over all put team Ticehurst in 6th position and Carls team Alphurst came in a proud 4th. We all had a great time but though we could have done a lot better.
